Five tips on the fifth of each month: What five things can you do in one month to make a difference on your selling floor?
- Tulips Everywhere – Think tulips – and lots of them. Imagine hundreds of silk tulips packed into metal buckets, painted containers, or glass vases. Scatter them throughout your store: a dozen on pedestals in the window, more on tables, shelves, and countertops. By focusing on one stunning prop and multiplying it, you’ll create an elegant, show-stopping WOW factor your customers won’t forget.
- Statement Branches – Long, dramatic branches are a springtime staple. Gather some from a friend’s backyard or a local nursery, and pair them with silk yellow forsythia branches for a pop of color. Display them in large metal containers for a bold, vertical arrangement perfect for your window. Add a few more throughout the store to guide the customer journey – because, as they say, “the feet follow the eyes.”
- The Umbrella Twist – Instead of the typical hanging umbrella display, try flipping it upside down! Place an open umbrella on a front nesting table and fill it with impulse-buy items. Mini umbrellas can also work wonders by the checkout counter – just fill them with smaller goodies. (Pro tip: Create a sturdy base to keep them balanced. It’s easier than it sounds!)
- Elevated Easter Baskets – Ditch the plastic grass and go upscale! Swap out traditional wicker baskets for sleek metal ones with handles. Line them with solid-colored fabric in your brand’s signature hue, then fill them with items that resonate with your business. Scatter these elevated baskets throughout your store and watch customers scoop up these irresistibly curated bundles! For example:
- Fake lemons, limes, or oranges for kitchen or specialty food stores
- Rolled-up socks in spring colors for shoe stores
- Painted lightbulbs for hardware stores
- Rolled-up washcloths for spas
- Small journals for bookstores
- Jewelry cleaner for jewelry boutiques
- Bold Paint or Wall Coverings – Saving the best for last: transform an accent wall! Choose a window backdrop, Instagram wall, or back wall, and give it a bold spring makeover. Paint it in a bright, cheerful color or apply a peel-and-stick wallpaper with a fun pattern. (There are endless options out there, or you can even design your own!) This temporary change – lasting about eight weeks – will completely refresh your store’s vibe and lift everyone’s spirits.
