Moores on Main has a rich history in Ashland, WI. The store began as a military surplus store in 1946 and is now run by the 2nd and 3rd generations of the Moore family. Our team made improvements to the store’s layout, fixturing, finishes, signage, visual merchandising and window displays during our 5th annual 48-Hour Main Street Makeover. The transformation was well received by the community and created excitement among their regular and new customers.
Ted’s Pizza has been serving Menomonie, Wisconsin with home-made pizza for over 50 years and they were the perfect candidate to win the 4th annual Main Street 48-hour Makeover competition. Retailworks created an updated look for restaurant interior, including custom graphics, illustrations, and wall coverings. The Gounaikis family worked hard through the pandemic to prepare for the unveiling and ribbon cutting.
The winner of the 3rd annual main street 48-Hour Makeover, awarded by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, was granted to Anthony’s 511, a fun, eccentric barbershop. Anthony’s personality and genuineness really shined through in his application. With the goal of wanting to add an additional stylist, Anthony’s 511 needed a layout alteration and interior update. The space already had a lot of personality, including clever signs and rustic wooden plank walls – which we worked around. A featured wall was created as a focal point backdrop behind a new reception desk. The new façade was inspired by an old black and white photo of the building that was found in the town’s historical files.
“Retailworks was an amazing team to work with! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate their team’s thought, input, and design style. Each individual brought a specialty skill to the project. Each skill set blended perfectly to make a wonderful transformation in my shop. I can’t say enough good things about them.”
Annie’s Fountain City Café was the winner of the 2nd main street 48-Hour Makeover contest awarded by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) in 2018. Although, only open for a couple of years at that time, Annie’s had become a fixture in the community and a favorite gathering space. The building had originally housed a bar, and had a large central counter that really limited the use of the space and made the morning coffee rush particularly cramped. The back room is used for open mic nights and other meetings, and it needed updates to help it shine. Annie dreamed of a space that better served her customers, and also allowed for some retail space, including the opportunity to show and sell work by local artists. Retailworks and WEDC completely transformed the space by reconfiguring the service counter area, providing fixtures and Slatwall for retail display, and making the back room more conducive to parties and events. New paint throughout livened up the space, and metal artwork provided by Annie’s father brought in extra character. Even the exterior storefront was revamped with new windows and doors, a canopy, and a fantastic Art Deco-inspired sign. Finally, She worked with the city of Fond du Lac to get a parklet on the street in front of the building she’d been dreaming about, so her customers can enjoy their food and beverages al fresco when the weather permits. We’re so happy for Annie and all her success.
“Since our Grand Reveal in April 2018 our sales in the café have doubled. Retailworks did an amazing job. The design opened up the space and created an amazing gathering space.”
