For their 75th anniversary, Ruekert & Mielke (RM) asked us to tell their sweeping story in a wall-based timeline to be located in their Waukesha, Wisconsin-based corporate headquarters. Working closely with RM’s marketing chief, we helped cull, curate, and organize the well-preserved historical information contained in the company’s archives. The resulting story uses105 individual pieces connected with piping, which represents the firm’s infrastructure engineering focus. To make the large amount of information more easily navigable, the timeline was divided up by decades, and into three categories (denoted by color and icons): people, projects, and corporate growth. The timeline was unveiled at their 75th Anniversary Party, and to much acclaim! It perfectly reflects the pride of a long, productive history for this storied company.
“Throughout the whole design process the [Retailworks, Inc./LMF Group] team was very collaborative and responsive. We had a ton of content; 75 years worth to dig through. They did a great job of balancing the amount of content we had and what we wanted to show along in balancing that with their actual design. And throughout the process they took our ideas into account. They incorporated them. And we also had a lot of really good ways to communicate back and forth, mostly through shared cloud folders and documents and edits.”
